Advent: Peace

If there is one thing our world can agree on it is that something is wrong.
Some of us believe we can put our finger on the problem, others of us don’t know where to begin.
Through the seasons of confusion and tension it is all too clear:
something is not as it should be.

There is a constant groaning globally, locally, and personally for change to take place and for wrongs to be set right.
You hear it too, right?
Groups and individuals bidding for your attention and support and money.
Invitations to join the change, be the change, and to set our world in a different direction.
There are ongoing fights over what is good and right.
Shouts and tweets and posts and new stories exclaiming for change and support and a step in a new direction.

Fix the justice system.
Fill the potholes.
Lower gas prices and taxes.
Masks.
No Masks.
Support the single mothers and fathers and homeless and veterans and LGBTQ+ and handicapped and less fortunate and animals and …
Love not hate.
Don’t eat that.
Follow me.
Vote for this side.
Vote against that.
Don’t listen to what those people are saying.
Stop saying this and say this instead.
Cancel student debt.
Change the price of this and that.

Through all of this I hear:
See me.
Hear me.
Know me.
Help me.
Love me.
Stand with me.

And this is what Jesus does.

He enters into the noise and pain and offers us what we need: Himself.

A Savior.

Peace.

True Peace.

He hears the cries and sees the brokenness and steps into this mess.

He sees us.
He hears us.
He knows us.
He helps us.
He loves us.
He stands with us.

He is our peace.

The world is screaming for peace when He has already come and will come again.

Peace as Promised

See me.
Hear me.
Know me.
Help me.
Love me.
Stand with me.

He sees us.
He hears us.
He knows us.
He helps us.
He loves us.
He stands with us.

He is our peace.
