A Few Words For Memorial Day

we remember because
we cannot forget
we continue because
we will not stop
and together we will
dance in the misery
celebrate in the pain
and rejoice in the darkness.

Today we remember those who are often forgotten.

The soldiers and the families and friends of soldiers, we remember you today.

We thank you today.

We celebrate you today.

I cannot imagine what you endured so many of us would never have to.

The sacrifice of your mind and body for those back home.

The letting go of your dreams so we could peacefully fall asleep at night.

The offering of your life so others could live.

The surrendering of your future so your friends and family could have a better one.

Without you, I don’t know where we would be.

Thank you.

To those who fought for unity, we pray this for you and our world today.

To those who stood side by side in uncertain storms, we pray for peace for you and our world today.

To those who encountered what was never meant to be seen, we pray for hope to draw close.

You are not forgotten.

Thank you.
