Just Get Home

No one wants to be sick.

But if you are sick, you want to be sick at home.

The last place you want to be sick is anywhere but home.

And this is what happened to me.

3 hours after landing in Chicago I was curled up on the floor of the hotel bathroom giving everything I had to the toilet.

Life and energy were drained out of my body.

By the end of my time on the floor, I was empty and exhausted and miserable at best.

As I laid in bed all I could think was: Just get home.

Sometimes I forget that I am not home.

Our home is with the One who gives us everlasting life.

The One who restores, redeems, and welcomes us home with grace and mercy.

And we aren’t there yet, but one day we will be.

This world, for as beautiful and wonderful as it can be, is not our home.

Here, all is not right.
Here, there is brokenness and pain and sickness.
Here, we are torn apart by division and hatred and sin.
Here, we are far from the way things are supposed to be.

Here, we are sick and far from home.

Until we arrive home, we continue.

Continue to be faithful.
Continue to love.
Continue to invite.
Continue to forgive.
Continue to hope.
Continue to endure.

Just get home.
