Love Came Down

Advent Reflection Love Came Down

The One who was to come finally arrived.

On that long awaited day, the Light broke through the darkness and the story of the world changed.

Love came down.

Love did not stay far off or ask us to take the first step, but came low and met us where we were, because that’s what Love does.

Love did not ask us to clean up our mess or get ourselves together.

Love showed up and offered all the Love there was to give.

Love met our mess and weariness.
Love met our needs and tears.
Love met our worries and wants.

Love moved into the neighborhood.

Love sat at our table and ate our food.

Love walked our streets and shopped at our stores.

Love heard our stories and shared His own.

Day after day Love showed us that Love is not far or distant, but here.

And Love is still here with us and for us today.

Here, where everything is not as it should be.

Here, where we continue to wait and hope.

Here, where we are weary and needy and messy.

Here, where we remember a day when the Light broke through the darkness.

Here, where our stories have been changed because of Love.

Love came down and Love will come again.
