99 Cent Mango

@writtentospeak

Most days I’m fighting to be where I am.
I often try to slide back to the past or run to the distant future, but these days I am working to be right where I am.

I am always working to be right where I am.

It’s a fight and most of the time I lose, but I’ve got a few scars and bruises to prove being where you are is the best place to be.

Over the years, I have learned that to be where you are requires your presence and patience.
And probably a cup of coffee.
Some days I think the two come hand in hand, but most days my hands are so full I’m not sure what I’m holding.

To breathe and be and see where I am is where I am supposed to be.
And oddly enough, mangoes have helped me learn patience

Patience
It's a word that doesn't go out of style and most days I wish it would.
It's a word I am tired of hearing, but cannot hear enough.
It’s a word I’m trying to hold on to and live out and pass on.
Patience.

And for only 99 cents, a mango can help teach you patience.
(My friends with children would tell me babies will also teach you patience, but we aren’t there yet, so for now, it’s a mango.)

Mangoes need your patience and time.
Mangoes cannot be rushed or ignored.
Mangoes remind us that they are always worth the wait.

“And it is in seasons of patience I watch God work.
There is magic is in His movement and grace in his giving
And most days I forget I’m living between the two.
Like i forget patience isn’t a painful punishment,
but the way to much more.
To something so sweet.
So delightful.
So rich.
Like a 99 cent mango.

To breathe
and be
and see
where I am
is where
I am supposed to be.
